Most countries are also focusing on communication skills - particu- larly teaching second languages. Students across the world learn English since it is an international language. European countries begin to teach English in primary school, and in China, children start studying English in kindergarten at the age of four. In addition to studying at home, each year thousands of students travel to English speaking countries to improve their English. Around 725,000 international students study in the United States, 400,000 study in Great Britain, and 475,000 study in Australia. This shows that many countries are successful in teaching a second language.
