Beth, a new student from New York, meets Tony, a local resident, on her first day at school. Tony welcomes her and they discuss their backgrounds. Beth finds the school and teachers enjoyable, particularly her English teacher Mr. Wong and Spanish teacher Mrs. Garcia.  Beth shares that she's just starting to learn Spanish and Tony, who is fluent due to his Mexican and Costa Rican heritage, offers to help her. They discuss Beth's upcoming Spanish class, which is held in the computer lab after school. Beth explains she can't access online classes yet because she doesn't have internet at home. Despite this, she's excited about the class and finds online learning enjoyable.
