Blood Sample Collection
Equipment and tools:- 1.disposable syringe, 2.Alcohol 
3.Cotton 4.lancet, 5. vacuum tube, 6- tubes, 
7.tourniquet, 8. Blood.
The theoretical side:-
Blood may be obtained from veins , arteries or by capillary 
puncture. most test in the clinical laboratory are performed 
on venous blood, while arterial blood is primarily used for 
blood gas determination. The use of tourniquet should aid in 
the identification of veins and in the rapid removal of blood. 
Excessive fist clenching by the patient is to be avoided. Usually 
disposable needles are used whether the blood is drawn into a 
syringe or into a vacuum tube.
All tubes and syringe must be chemically clean. The blood is 
then allowed to clot at least 10 to 15 minutes at room 
temperature and longer if allowed to stand in a refrigerator. 
After blood has clotted, the tube is centrifuged and the serum 
removed. The individual handling of the serum will now depend 
on the analysis that is to be done.
