Tunisia's power sector is well-developed, and nearly the entire population has access to the national electricity grid.Moreover, using renewable energy will enhance Tunisia's long-term energy security and ensure a stable energy source.Most of the natural gas used for energy is imported from other, neighbouring countries such as Algeria, making Tunisia vulnerable to external supply distributions, geopolitical tensions, and fluctuations in international energy prices.Despite having a reasonably developed national grid and almost universal access to electricity, Tunisia's energy infrastructure is under increasing pressure due to the country's expanding population.To strengthen Tunisia's energy security, the Tunisian government should invest in solar and wind power, which will give the country an abundant renewable energy source and a significant potential for a cleaner energy development.As a result, the country experiences power interruptions and shortages.
