The narrator of the story Jean Louise Finch (Scout) is a five-year-old when the story begins and she lives with her father Atticus, brother, Jem, and their black cook Calpurnia in the fictional town of Alabama.She is a tomboy, wears overalls, and learns to climb trees with Jem and Dill In the beginning, Scout is innocent and goodhearted, but as the novel progresses she sees the evil and racial prejudice in society.Scout exhibits these unusual characteristics because she is who she is because of the way Atticus raised her.
