The novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, first detected in Wuhan, China in December 2019, causes the respiratory illness COVID-19.  Its highly contagious nature, primarily spread through respiratory droplets, led to a global health and economic crisis.  Fever is a key early symptom of COVID-19 infection.
