OLE greatly increases user productivity by facilitating interoperability between various applications, but because of its widespread use and complexity which includes attack vectors like embedded code, external resources, Component Object Model (COM) objects Microsoft, and social engineering attacks it has also become a target for cyber threats.The more recent Microsoft Office Open XML (OOXML) Microsoft (2023f) file format and embedded objects based on OLE format also require OLE, which should be emphasized.
