The delayed mastery of grammatical morphemes in children with SLI/DLD may reflect a more general problem of sentence comprehension.This view is supported by the finding of a relationship between sentence com- prehension and grammatical morpheme expression in children with SLI/DLD: better comprehension is associated with better expression of grammatical mor- phemes (Bishop, Adams, & Norbury, 2006).
