Another example of juxtaposition is evident in Dowell's digression about his amusement on the trip he makes with the Ashburnhams.Dowell describes the scene saying, "I chuckled over it from time to time .... Because it does look very funny, you know, to see a black and white cow land on its back in the middle of a stream. It is so just exactly what one doesn't expect of a cow" (40; pt.1, ch.4).
