In 1937, Britain proposed a Palestine partition plan to the League of Nations, including a technical committee to detail it.  Facing Arab and Jewish opposition, implementation was delayed.  Further attempts at Arab persuasion followed in 1945 (Joint Anglo-American Committee) and 1946-47 (Morrison and Bevin plans).
