This study focuses on highlighting the main impacts and challenges facing the implementation of green roof technology in the city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.An extensive literature review and exploratory survey were conducted before a shortlist of key factors and challenges to be included in the survey questionnaire was developed.The survey questionnaire was designed with a high level of flexibility covering key issues, including relevant areas affected in a resident's daily life as well as challenges faced by the general public in installing these systems in their existing homes or new buildings.As the global environment temperature increases, it has become necessary to implement such sustainable methods that help in achieving urban sustainability.Saudi Arabia has seen some reluctance to implement green roofs in buildings.The study concludes with strong recommendations for local authorities to plan rapid action.
