Staphylococcus aureus is primarily a pyogenic genus ( pus formation + fever) responsible for most suppurative infections of the skin (pus on the skin and mucous membranes; it often causes secondary infections in neglected wounds.* Deep infections can be pleuropulmonary, genitourinary (renal abscess, prostate abscess), osteoarticular, cardiac, or cerebro-meningeal.The high incidence is explained by the intensive use of antibiotics, which select for it. * 3- Staphylococcus aureus is thus a pathogen due to the toxins it produces, enterotoxigenic toxins that manifest in the form of foodborne intoxications.
