Le 14 septembre 1943, à 9h du matin, la Gestapo a arrêté Sabety dans son épicerie à Toulon.  Armés, ils ont interrogé le boucher présent, demandant s'il était juif.  Le nom de Sabety a confirmé son identité juive, conduisant à son arrestation.
