We conducted a system evaluation for the Intelligent Waste Sorting Assistant application in order to determine whether the application could be used to meet goals for waste sorting by various users.After reviewing the classification records stored in Supabase the participants completed an online Microsoft Forms questionnaire (see Figure 4 for an example of a question) that consisted of 12 close-ended statements rated on a 5-point Likert scale to assess the participants' perceptions of the application.The classification tasks were completed by the participants on their own smart phones, and after completing the classification tasks the participants accessed the Supabase Dashboard read-only shared Supabase link to review past classification records stored as Supabase records.

We conducted a descriptive survey using Microsoft Forms and provided 12 close-ended questions that the participants would use to rate their perceptions of the application using a 5-point Likert-type scale. Three groups of participants were used for the system evaluation, university undergraduate students, university staff, and support staff. The classification tasks were completed by the participants on their own smart phones, and after completing the classification tasks the participants accessed the Supabase Dashboard read-only shared Supabase link to review past classification records stored as Supabase records. The 12 close-ended survey questions were grouped into three sections of statements, usability, accuracy and reliability, and privacy trust, and participants’ ratings for each of the statements in the three sections of the questionnaire were used to evaluate the Intelligent Waste Sorting Assistant application in order to determine whether the application would satisfy needs of users for effective waste sorting.
