Infants and children have several anatomic and physiologic differences compared to adults.Gastrointestinal System: Infants and children have a shorter digestive tract than adults, which can affect the absorption of nutrients and medications.Organ Function: Infants and children have organs that are still developing, such as the liver and kidneys, which can affect how medications are processed and eliminated from their bodies.Respiratory System: Infants and children have smaller airways than adults, which makes them more prone to respiratory infections and can make it more difficult for them to breathe. Here are some of the key differences:

Infants and children have several anatomic and
physiologic differences compared to adults. Here are some of the key differences:

1. Size and Weight: Infants and children are smaller in size and weight than adults. This affects the dosages of medications that can be given to them and also impacts the types of medical equipment that can be used.

2. Organ Function: Infants and children have organs that are still developing, such as the liver and kidneys, which can affect how medications are processed and eliminated from their bodies.

3. Respiratory System: Infants and children have smaller airways than adults, which makes them more prone to respiratory infections and can make it more difficult for them to breathe.

4. Cardiovascular System: Infants and children have a higher heart rate than adults, which can affect how medications are absorbed and eliminated from their bodies.

5. Immune System: Infants and children have a developing immune system that may not be as effective as adults in fighting off infections.

6. Gastrointestinal System: Infants and children have a shorter digestive tract than adults, which can affect the absorption of nutrients and medications.

7. Brain Development: The brain of an infant or child is still developing, which can affect how they respond to medications and how they process information.
