Dr Farouk El-Baz was born on January 2, 1938, in Zagazig.He studied geology at Ain Shams University.He worked with NASA on exploring the moon and the planning of the Apollo programme.He studied the geology of the moon, so he advised the astronauts where to land.Before this work, Dr El-Baz had also helped to develop special cameras on the space shuttle.He is married.
