2.0 INTRODUCTION The purpose of this document is to provide an overview of the oil and gas processing facility located in the El Merk region of Southern Algeria. The overview consists of the nominal capacities of the CPF, product specifications and the arrival conditions, processing facilities, unit description of processing facilities and utility systems and the phase wise start-up methodology of the CPF. Project Overview The El Merk Project comprises a number of separate hydrocarbon deposits located approximately 220 km south-east of Hassi Messaoud in Algeria. The fields will be developed by the Sonatrach/Anadarko Association and partners. The development consists of fields within four blocks: Block 208 (El Merk) consists of four fields (EKT, EMN, EME, and Unitized EMK/MLSE) and three different reservoir formations (TAGI, RKF and Strunian). The TAGI formation contains oil, whereas the RKF and Strunian formations contain gas-condensate. Block 405A (Menzel Ledjmet) is already partially developed, with the Menzel Ledjmet North (MLN) production and oil export facilities. The MLSE TAGI reservoir located in the southeast of this block shall be routed to the Block 208 CPF as unitized production with the EMK TAGI fluids. Blocks 404/403a contains the existing Groupement Berkine operated Hassi Berkine CPF that accepts production from the HBNS, HBNS Satellite and HBN fields. NGL liquids extracted from the rich associated gas from these fields may be exported in future to the El Merk CPF for recovery of LPG and condensate. For product export, various oil, condensate and LPG pipelines are already in place to the north and west of the CPF.
