Abstract
Gene therapy, more vigorously being researched in the recent years, is yet another type of treatment that consists of introducing therapeutic genes into a tumor cell or tissue in order to destroy the cell or prevent the growth of the tumor. There are a number of approaches involved in the treatment including therapeutic induction of genes or suppression of unwanted or mutant genes; hence, different types of genes and viral and nonviral vectors are being studied.
