Ibn Sina  Muslim doctor, philosopher and scientist Born 980 CE, Afshana (now in Uzbekistan)  He is considered to be the  father of modern medicine,,  and wrote over 450 books, including the 14 volume Canon of Medicin, which is a book that includes Arabic medical lore and personal experiencr.He was the first to accurately describe the symptoms of illnesses, including diabetes.
