The Effects of Tourism on One Florida City Orlando, which was a quiet farming town a little more than 40 years ago, has more people passing through it than any other place in the state of Florida.The reason is Walt Disney World.However, few of these visitors stay in the actual city of Orlando, preferring to use the countless motels nearer to the theme parks; so, it is perhaps not so strange that despite its enormous expansion, particularly over the last two decades, the city itself has remained free of the commercialism that surrounds it.
