A rectifier is an electronic circuit for converting ac voltage or current into a unidirectional de voltage or current. The voltage across the secondary forms the input voltage to the rectifier diode. This rectifier uses four diodes which conduct two half cycles of input as shown in figure 1.The AC voltage to be rectified is applied to the primary of the transformer. So this half cycle will be available at the output.

A rectifier is an electronic circuit for converting ac voltage or current into a unidirectional de voltage or current. A full wave rectifier converts ac voltage into a pulsating de voltage using both positive and negative half cycle of the applied ac voltage.
This rectifier uses four diodes which conduct two half cycles of input as shown in figure 1.The AC voltage to be rectified is applied to the primary of the transformer. The voltage across the secondary forms the input voltage to the rectifier diode.
During the positive half cycle of the input, two diodes are getting forward biased and current flows through the circuit. So this half cycle will be available at the output.
During negative half cycle, another two diodes are getting forward biased and current flows through the circuit. So this half cycle will be available at the output.
