2. Foundation seed: Multiplied from breeder seed available in limited amounts, and is planted to produce registered seed, labeled with white tag.


3. Registered seed: this is the seed source for growers of certified seed and under the control of the registered seed producers, labeled with purple tag.


4. Certified seed: this seed is available in large quantities and is sold to farmers for general crop production, labeled with a blue tag.
