Normative social influence motivates people to conform by driving the desire to fit in, be liked, and avoid rejection by the group. This can be seen in the 2004 movie "Mean Girls" in several ways, in the movie There was a central group, that called "The Plastics," this group exemplifies the power of normative influence. Cady the new student initially dresses and behaves differently from The Plastics. However, after befriending them, she feels pressure to conform. She changes her clothing style, adopts their slang, and even participates in their malicious gossip. This external conformity highlights the influence of The Plastics as a dominant group and Cady's desire to be accepted by them. Throughout the movie, we can see that the characters experience various forms of peer pressure to conform to the social norms set by The Plastics. From clothing choices to language and behavior, characters face the pressure to align with the group to avoid being ostracized. Also, The Plastics maintain a secret "burn book" containing negative comments about other students. Janis and Damian, who dislike The Plastics, also have a "hate list." While both groups initially resist the practice, they ultimately engage in it, demonstrating the pressure to conform to the existing social norm within the school, even if they don't fully agree with it
