In light of the strength considerations for using nanotechnology materials, these materials can enhance the performance of immunotherapy with encapsulation and protection of a therapeutic molecule such as mRNA and CAR-T cells, and, delivery directly to cells such as cancer cells or targeted immune cells.For these same reasons, it is also important to consider challenges that accompany the use of nanomaterials in manufacturing processes such as potential toxic effects and safety concerns of the nanomaterials as a by-product, unacceptable immune activation and other associated issues for example, cost-benefit to manufacturability.

In light of the strength considerations for using nanotechnology materials, these materials can enhance the performance of immunotherapy with encapsulation and protection of a therapeutic molecule such as mRNA and CAR-T cells, and, delivery directly to cells such as cancer cells or targeted immune cells. The materials can not only direct the CAR-T cells and mRNA to the desired target cells, but also induce immune mediated killing of cancer cells and further functionally collocate with the desired target cells. Nanomaterials will be necessary for markets that require efficient and targeted delivery, reduction in side effects, extending duration or lifetime for therapeutic effect. For these same reasons, it is also important to consider challenges that accompany the use of nanomaterials in manufacturing processes such as potential toxic effects and safety concerns of the nanomaterials as a by-product, unacceptable immune activation and other associated issues for example, cost-benefit to manufacturability. Future approaches may be responsive nanomaterials, exploring cell-derived nanoparticles as natural delivery vehicles, and in a mixed approach combining mRNA and CAR-T cell therapy. For instance, delivering mRNA for T cells outside the body to program the T cells to express CAR receptors, or deliver mRNA adjuvant "modulators" to help enhance CAR-T cell effectiveness.
