A new technology called smart energy management leverages Internet of Things concepts to enhance energy efficiency and reduce waste in structures. The goal of this study is to understand how knowledge of home energy management affects energy use, user behavior, related expenditures, and environmental impact. Smart PLS software was used to analyze the research model using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results showed that by reducing energy use and enhancing the overall performance of buildings, residential buildings that implement smart energy consumption management systems may move towards a more sustainable future. Furthermore, the study found that education and awareness campaigns are necessary to increase residents' knowledge of these systems to promote energy savings. The results also indicated the presence of statistically significant indirect effects that support the existence of mediation in building behavior. These smart energy management systems represent an important innovation in building management and can help create more sustainable and efficient buildings.
