CONCLUSION
DPPH radical scavenging and Folin-Ciocalteu assays are the most commonly used methods to measure antioxidant activity and total phenolic content, respectively.Among all plants, Bouea macrophylla exhibited the strongest antioxidant activity and has the highest phenolic content.In this study, by using these methods the antioxidant activity and total phenolic content of Ficus deltoidea, Muntingia calabura and Bouea macrophylla were succesfully evaluated and discovered.
CONCLUSION
DPPH radical scavenging and Folin-Ciocalteu assays are the most commonly used methods to measure antioxidant activity and total phenolic content, respectively. This is due to that these methods are simple, short period analysis, unexpensive and reliable. In this study, by using these methods the antioxidant activity and total phenolic content of Ficus deltoidea, Muntingia calabura and Bouea macrophylla were succesfully evaluated and discovered. The results revealed that these plants possess antioxidant activity and contains some amount of phenolic compounds. The antioxidant activity was found to be correlated to the amount of phenolic compounds presence in the plants. Among all plants, Bouea macrophylla exhibited the strongest antioxidant activity and has the highest phenolic content. Therefore, it is suggested that Bouea macrophylla has the potential to be developed as new natural antioxidant agent that may benefits patients suffering with free radicals-related disease and patients that undergoes nuclear medicine procedures.
