This rectifier uses only one diode which conducts during one half cycle only as shown in figure 1. The AC voltage to be rectified is applied to the primary of the transformer. The voltage across the secondary forms the input voltage to the rectifier diode.
During the positive half cycle of the input, diode is forward biased and current flows through the circuit. So this half cycle will be available at the output.
During negative half cycle, diode is reverse biased and no current flows through the circuit. Therefore there will not be any output during this half cycle.
