The 2021 survey revealed that 21 percent of organizations worldwide have been the targets of one to ten social media attacks"[9]."Moreover, 34% of cyber-attacks were via social media Especially phishing attacks and impersonation of this digital identity, and with the increase and growth in the number of users of this site, it makes the prospects of threats through social media may be more dangerous in future, especially since hackers and attackers are constantly inventing new methods"[10]. In our current study, the sample size is represented by age as follows, 18 years represented 26.3% of the total study sample, while the age group over 18 years represented 73.7%. It became clear that the majority of individuals are currently active on social media platforms, as the percentage of activity on social media sites constituted 84.2% of the total study sample, and this suggests that the percentage of interest in using social media sites is high. Also, 68.4% of its users use social media platforms on a daily basis. The results indicate that Instagram and Twitter are the most used platforms among the sample, followed by Snapchat and TikTok. With this widespread demand for using social media platforms, more than half of the study sample, representing 57.9%, had been exposed to threats during previous periods of their use of social media sites. This is an indication that the percentage of threats to which users of social media sites may be exposed is considered high. Despite this, the majority of the sample believes that social media platforms provide appropriate settings to protect privacy. Also 47.4% of the study sample believe that phishing attacks represent the largest and most widespread threat on social media, while 31.6% believe that sending encrypted messages is the most dangerous and widespread threat, and 21.1% believe that sending friend requests is a widespread threat, and from this we may find that Phishing attacks are the most dangerous and widespread threat from the point of view of the study sample, and this is largely consistent with the findings of many previous studies on this topic. It is worth noting that customer misbehaviors have a significant impact on increasing the risk of attacks, and the majority of the sample believes that setting weak passwords for accounts, and sharing private and sometimes sensitive data with the public are the most common misbehaviors. Then, to a lesser extent, there is a lack of interest in activating the two-step verification method and accepting all friend requests in addition to setting a strong password, 38.6% of the sample indicated that the appropriate measure to protect data is to activate two-step verification. The same percentage of the sample, 38.6%, indicated that the ideal option is not to use a single password for all accounts. Moreover, the majority of the study sample, 57.9%, believes that the security auditor has an important role in helping to identify potential vulnerabilities and address them.
