Abu Dhabi Police's Security Media Department focuses on professional communication. My internship aimed to apply graphic design skills, improve technical proficiency (Adobe Illustrator), learn branding guidelines, and understand government media strategies. Rotating through six department branches, I gained experience in various tasks, from administrative support to social media management and design projects (banners, press release, children's magazine feature), developing diverse skills and understanding collaborative workflows.

1.1 Company Background

The Security Media Department is a vital division of Abu Dhabi Police, playing a key role in shaping communication and public awareness. Its main mission is to ensure accurate, timely, and professional delivery of information to both internal staff and the public. The department manages a wide range of responsibilities, including strategic planning, media documentation, government communication, social media management, and creative design. Each branch within the department specializes in a specific area, but they all work together to maintain the official identity and credibility of Abu Dhabi Police. By integrating communication, design, and strategic planning, the Security Media Department ensures that every message demonstrates professionalism and aligns with national values.

1.2 Training Objectives

My internship aimed to apply my academic knowledge from my graphic design major in a professional environment while gaining insight into the broader field of media communication. My main goals included improving my technical skills in Adobe Illustrator and other design tools, learning to create content that follows strict branding standards, and enhancing my ability to communicate effectively through visual and written media. Additionally, I sought to understand how media strategies are developed and implemented within a government organization, while also strengthening my professional conduct, teamwork, and time management skills. This internship provided an opportunity to connect theory with practice and prepare myself for future career challenges.

1.3 Student Work Assignment

During the internship, I was rotated through six different branches of the department, with each rotation lasting about two weeks. My tasks ranged from administrative and coordination duties in Support Services to observing strategy development, supporting government communication efforts, managing social media content, writing a press release, and designing creative materials such as banners, postcards, wallpapers, and a children’s magazine feature. Each assignment offered new responsibilities and exposed
me to various technical and professional requirements. This variety helped me develop a diverse skill set and gain a better understanding of how different branches collaborate to meet common communication goals.
