Asset Declaration : Asset declaration is a procedure introduced in Algeria following its ratification of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (2003) and the enactment of Law 06-01 on the Prevention and Fight Against Corruption.Article 36 of this law stipulates that any public employee who is legally required to declare their assets but fails to do so within two months of being legally reminded, or submits an incomplete, incorrect, or false declaration, or intentionally provides false statements, will be subject to imprisonment for six months to five years and a fine ranging from 50,000 to 500,000 DZD.

Asset Declaration :

Article 36 refers to "any public employee legally required to declare their assets" without specifying who exactly falls under this obligation. Similarly, Article 4 of Law 06-01 does not provide a precise definition of which public employees are subject to asset declaration but emphasizes that this measure is part of corruption prevention efforts.
However, Article 6 of the Law on the Prevention and Fight Against Corruption (06-01) lists the public officials required to declare their assets, including:
 The President of the Republic / Members of Parliament / Provincial Governors .
 The President and Members of the Constitutional Council (now the President and Vice Presidents of the Constitutional Court) / The Prime Minister and Cabinet Members .
 The President of the Court of Auditors / The Governor of the Bank of Algeria .
 Ambassadors and Consuls/ Elected Presidents and Members of Local Popular Councils .
However, this list is not final. The last paragraph of Article 6 states that additional employees required to declare their assets will be determined through regulation. This was confirmed by the issuance of a presidential decree in 2006, which specified the procedures for asset declaration for employees not mentioned in Article 6 of Law 06-01 on the Prevention and Fight Against Corruption. These include individuals holding senior positions and those whose list is determined by the Directorate of Civil Service. To complement this decree, a decision was issued in 2007 by the General Directorate of Civil Service, specifying a list of public agents in certain ministries who are required to declare their assets, such as inspectors and control officers.
