The first section introduces the basic concepts of the PV/T system with PCM module. The second section forms the core of this review article by highlighting different applications of the PV/T system with PCM module, summarizing the optimization solutions and thermodynamic analysis models for the interior tube configuration, novel composite PCM and nanofluid, clarifying various thermal regulation strategies and nocturnal radiative cooling technology and addressing the limitations of the conventional PV/T system. The third section focuses on exergy, economic and environmental assessments of the PV/T system with PCM module to attain the maximum work potential, predicts initial investment, total cost savings, dynamic payback period and GHG emission in practical application based on the thermodynamic analysis models The technical challenges of the 4 E assessments and future work directions on PV/T system with PCM module are elaborated in the fourth section. Finally, the key findings are concluded in the last section.
