Les sciences obéissent, aujourd’hui à deux principales distinctions :
Les sciences de la nature et les sciences de l’homme (sciences sociales).
Les sciences de la nature traitent des relations entre les choses, des rapports entre les phénomènes naturels. Les sciences de l’homme, appelées également sciences sociales concernent les actions de l’homme, les relations entre les hommes et les choses, les relations entre les hommes.
Les données des sciences de l’homme ont un caractère subjectif car elles ne peuvent se définir en termes matériels et objectifs, mais par référence à des opinions, à des desseins et à des croyances de l’homme.
