When making any change, the chances of success are essentially determined by the effectiveness of the process combined with the degree to which those involved see a benefit in changing in other words, from their perspective there is a cost benefit of supporting the change, bearing in mind all the factors in play. In day-to-day organizational working, this goes back to the 'what's the point?' and 'what's in it for me?" questions. If people don't see the point of changes, while they might not openly object, they won't implement effectively and the result will be the same -failure. This has significant implications for leaders-people only recognize value if they are informed about it, see it for themselves and are convinced it will be deliv-ered. Thus, it is a key role of leaders to make the case for change, where possible, as a means for individuals, teams and the organization to benefit.
