unusually intelligent (she learns to read before going to school) unusually
thoughtful (worries about the basic good and evil of mankind) unusually
confident(she fights boys without fear) and very mature for her age and
believes in the basic goodness of the people in her community. Scout
exhibits these unusual characteristics because she is who she is because of
the way Atticus raised her. She is a tomboy, wears overalls, and learns to
climb trees with Jem and Dill
In the beginning, Scout is innocent and
goodhearted, but as the novel progresses she sees the evil and racial
prejudice in society. But from Atticus Scout learns that though humanity
has a great capacity for evil, it also has a great capacity for good. She also
understands from her father that one can stop evil in this world if one is
sympathetic and understanding.
