After incubation period, growth and production of the antibiotic were determined as described above. Similarly, optimum pH was determined by adjusting the pH of starch casein broth to values like 5, 6, 7, and 8. The pH values were adjusted by 0.1N NaOH and 0.1n HCl before sterilization (Starch et al., 2003; Vandamme et al., 1984). The incubation was done at 28°C for 3 days at 200 rpm on a gyratory shaker. Growth and production of the antibiotic were determined as described above
