Thus, the force of attraction between the earth and a 200-pound person is greater than the force of attraction between the earth and a 100-pound person. Gravitational force depends not only on the masses of the two bodies, but also on the distance between them. Thus, astronauts experience weightlessness on the way to the moon because they are not close enough to be affected by the gravitational pull of the earth or the moon, Newton extended his law even further. He said that every object in the universe exerts a gravitational pull on every other object. The concept of universal gravity was the greatest contribution of Isaac Newton, the man many consider to be one of the greatest thinkers of all time.
