The (Your Knowledge, Your Shield) campaign was conducted at the Deanship of Female Students Affairs Building, King Faisal University.The first part was included welcoming the public and a simple introduction to the content of the campaign, and the necessary assessment of students' awareness regarding genetic diseases (pre-questionnaire) was conducted before implementing the program.We introduced hereditary diseases, mention the types, and provided a simplified explanation of the method of transmission of each type.The method of reducing and preventing genetic diseases also explained, and this point included several basic topics.Regarding the third part, the attendance of female students sensitized by conducting competitions to test their level of awareness (Game cards: truth or myth).A post-questionnaire was conducted to measure changes in their awareness regarding genetic diseases.
The (Your Knowledge, Your Shield) campaign was conducted at the Deanship of Female Students Affairs Building, King Faisal University. For one day, at a rate of 2 hours. We used Arabic language during talks due to the nationality of the audience, with used of medical terminology appropriate to different academic levels.
In this campaign, we targeted all categories of students. It was conducted by 5 female students from the Department of Public Health, as part of graduation requirements. The campaign was divided into three parts, but at the same table, due to the lack of three tables as we planned. The first part was included welcoming the public and a simple introduction to the content of the campaign, and the necessary assessment of students’ awareness regarding genetic diseases (pre-questionnaire) was conducted before implementing the program. Answers were collected from Microsoft Forms.
In the second part we talked about the basic axes of the campaign. We introduced hereditary diseases, mention the types, and provided a simplified explanation of the method of transmission of each type.
The method of reducing and preventing genetic diseases also explained, and this point included several basic topics. Such as the types of tests, their importance, and the services provided by the government, which in turn contribute to the prevention of diseases.
Regarding the third part, the attendance of female students sensitized by conducting competitions to test their level of awareness (Game cards: truth or myth). A post-questionnaire was conducted to measure changes in their awareness regarding genetic diseases. Answers were collected from Google Forms.
