This cross-sectional study was designed to assess the prevalence of food allergy among a convenient sample of current students at AQU and evaluate repetitive and risky behaviors in this group. A 3-minute online survey was designed to include 21 questions, available in Arabic. The ethically approved questionnaire can be accessed through the following link: https://2h.ae/cQSc.
The survey focused on FA concerning the age of starting, trips to the emergency department, allergy tests, prescription of SIE, necessity of using SIE, related allergic conditions, and attitude and behavior of college students towards food avoidance. The question included allergens and symptoms, with their outcomes to be discussed in a separate report. We conducted a preliminary investigation with a pilot study of 10 students to evaluate the clarity of the questions and the duration required to finish the survey. Following the pilot study, no significant modifications were made to the questions, and the data collected from the pilot study was not utilized in the analysis.
Study participants

Students enrolled at AQU in 2024 were surveyed for two weeks. The questionnaire was posted on social media for AQU students, so the number of students who filled it out was 245, which is considered a relatively small number. However, seven respondents were excluded from the statistical analysis since they were not current students at the university, leading to a final sample size of 238.
Statistical analysis
The collected data were compiled using the Google form and analyzed using IBM SPSS for Windows version 27. Descriptive statistics, including percentages and frequency distributions of various characteristics, were applicable. The Chi-square test was used to compare categorical variables. A significance level of α = 0.05 was used to determine statistical significance.
