1. Anatomy:
   Nose:

• Key Structures:


• Nasal Cavity: The first segment of the respiratory system, divided into two passages by the septum.


• Turbinates: Three bony projections (superior, middle, and inferior) that increase the surface area inside the nose.


• Paranasal Sinuses: Four groups of sinuses (frontal, maxillary, ethmoid, and sphenoid).

Mouth:

• Key Structures:


• Oral Cavity: Includes the lips, palate, tongue, and cheeks.


• Salivary Glands: Three pairs: parotid, submandibular, and sublingual.


• Teeth: 32 permanent teeth in adults.

Throat:

• Key Structures:


• Pharynx: Divided into the oropharynx and nasopharynx.


• Tonsils and Adenoids: Lymphoid tissue in the pharynx.

• Any nasal discharge or runny nose?


• Frequent colds or sinus pain?


• Nosebleeds (Epistaxis)?


• History of nasal trauma?


• Allergies or changes in the sense of smell?

Mouth and Throat:

• Any sores, lesions, or pain in the mouth or throat?


• Bleeding gums, toothache, or difficulty swallowing (Dysphagia)?


• Changes in taste, hoarseness, or voice changes?


• Smoking or alcohol use?


• Oral hygiene practices (e.g., brushing, dental visits)?

• Observe uvula movement when the patient says "ahh" (tests Cranial Nerve X - Vagus).


• Test tongue movement (Cranial Nerve XII - Hypoglossal).


• Note any unusual breath odors (Halitosis) as an indicator of oral or systemic issues.
