Corner castings and twist locks are crucial components used in the shipping and handling of intermodal containers, commonly seen in international trade and transport.

Corner Castings: These are standardized reinforced boxes made of strong materials like steel, located at all eight corners (top and bottom) of a shipping container. Their primary purpose is to provide standardized fixing points for lifting, stacking, and securing containers. Each corner casting has holes through which twist locks, container lifting equipment, or stacking pins are inserted to secure containers to each other, to the transport vehicle, or to the crane lifting the container.

Twist Locks: These are mechanical locking devices designed to quickly and securely connect the corners of shipping containers to each other or to the transport chassis (such as a container ship, railcar, or truck). The twist lock mechanism fits into the holes of the corner castings, and a twisting motion locks the containers together. This is essential for maintaining container stability during transport, preventing shifting and potential damage or loss of the cargo.

Together, these components enable the efficient, safe stacking and linking of containers, facilitating their movement between different modes of
