Behavioral is a psychological approach that emphasises the study of observable behaviors rather than internal mental states.


Limitations for Bilingual Children:


1)Oversimplification of Input:
Behavioral theories assume language is learned through consistent input and reinforcement,However bilingual children are often exposed to varying levels of input across languages,which may not always be consistent or reinforced equally in both languages.


2)Role of Motivation:


The theory does not account for intrinsic motivation or cultural identity,which my influence bilingual children’s language preference and use,especially in minority-language contexts where societal reinforcement for one language may dominate.


Nativist theories:


Nativist theories,such as those proposed by Chomsky,argue that humans possess an innate Language Acquisition Device (LAD) that facilitates language learning.


Limitations for Bilingual Children:



  1. Sociolinguistic Variation:


These theories averlook the influence of sociolinguistic factors,such as community attitudes toward one one language.


2)Delayed Development in One language:
