Conclusion:

The experiment of studying the heterogeneous equilibrium between two phases in a two-substance system, such as the chloroform-acetone system, is an important example for understanding the behavior of liquid mixtures.We showed that the chloroform-acetone system suffers from a strong negative deviation from Raoult's law, resulting in a maximum boiling azeotrope.We also analyzed phase diagrams of binary systems, allowing us to visualize changes in composition and temperature during distillation processes.

Conclusion:

The experiment of studying the heterogeneous equilibrium between two phases in a two-substance system, such as the chloroform-acetone system, is an important example for understanding the behavior of liquid mixtures. Through this experiment, we were able to explore how interactions between molecules affect the physical properties of mixtures, such as vapor pressure and boiling point.

We showed that the chloroform-acetone system suffers from a strong negative deviation from Raoult’s law, resulting in a maximum boiling azeotrope. This means that the mixture cannot be separated into its original components by simple distillation, highlighting the importance of understanding thermodynamics in non-ideal systems.

Furthermore, by applying the phase rule, we were able to determine the number of degrees of freedom in the system, which helps us understand how pressure, temperature, and concentration of components can be changed independently in single-phase systems. We also analyzed phase diagrams of binary systems, allowing us to visualize changes in composition and temperature during distillation processes.
