The initial perception of self-awareness was that it had two dimensions. First, objective self-awareness, which is solely focused on the self, and second, subjective self-awareness, which is a state of consciousness where attention is focused on events not related to the person. This two-dimensional approach also suggests that one can become self-aware by concentrating on oneself, which leads to a comparison with one's own standards.
