tourism supply

Definition and Characteristics

IN GENERAL, tourism supply includes all that the tourist destination has to offer to its actual and potential tourists. Supply in tourism represents the gamut of natural and man-made attractions, services and goods that are likely to induce people to visit a particular country.

Tourism supply is characterized by three main traits:

(A) It is basically a services supply. Thus, it is impossible to stock and has to be consumed where it exists. In other words, the impossibility of transporting it on the whole makes it different from other products supply in the sense that the consumer has to move himself in search of this supply.

(B) It is rigid in the sense that its exploitation in tourism purposes makes it difficult to change its utilization.

(C) As tourism is not yet a basic need of man, tourism supply is subject to competition from other goods and services supplies The law of substitution is active in this regard
