The role of an emergency shutdown system is to allow the rapid and safe shutdown of an equipment, a process or an installation in the event of an emergency situation or imminent danger. This system is designed to be operated quickly and efficiently in order to prevent accidents, protect people and minimize property damage.
When an emergency shutdown system is activated, it immediately interrupts the operation of the equipment or installation concerned, by cutting off the power supply, closing the valves, or by implementing other measures aimed at stopping the current process. This makes it possible to reduce the risks and potential consequences of an accident, by quickly stopping the source of the danger.
