A nutrient content claim can help consumer to choose foods that contain a particular nutrient which is required in more. For example: • Source: "source of fiber" or good source: "high in vitamin A" or "good source of inron" • Very high or excellent source: "excellent source of cacium Similarly the nutrient content claim can also be used to choose foods that contain a nutrient which is required less of • Free: "sodium free" or "trans far free" • Low: "low fa" • Reduced: "reduced in calories" However, the consumer needs to be educated about the fact that nutrient claims highlight one nutrient, nutrition facts table needs to be referred, to make better food choices. Health claim helps the consumer choose those foods that can be included as part of healthy diet to reduce risk of chronic diseases. For example, we come across cer- tain brands of oil with the health claim "good for your heart, good for health." Health claims are optional and only highlight a few key nutrients. Hence, it is worthwhile to refer to the nutrition facts table to make better food choices
